When considering how to redesign their space, these clients knew they wanted a functional, safe backyard that complimented the design of their contemporary home. Tucked into the hillside above Issaquah, this mountain home had a gorgeous view that our designers wanted to ensure the family could enjoy in the updated landscape. The existing concrete patio had several different levels and random steps, making it dangerous, especially at night.

Alderwood not only had to configure grading challenges into the design, but our crews also had to perfectly organize material delivery. With a winding mountain road as the crew's only access, any wasted materials or un-timely deliveries in the rain or snow would have caused significant issues for the project's timeline and budget. Aware of this, crews completed the project without any major issues.

The landscape architect crafted a final design that coordinates flawlessly with the home's style. The completed landscape boasts a beautiful paver patio that pulls the entire space together. The modern upper deck and sheltered patio below blend seamlessly with the contemporary steps and precisely placed plantings. The terraced landscape holds a countersunk swim spa that fits naturally with the rest of the backyard. LED lighting throughout the yard highlights beautiful trees and allows for safe access day or night.
